Grimm's Fairy Tales by the Brothers Grimm. These are the gritty originals of a few of the stories collected by the Brothers Grimm. They lack the "improvements" made by others. Rapunzel becomes pregnant by the prince. The wicked queen in Snow White dies wearing red hot steel slippers. There is no fairy godmother or pumpkin coach in Cinderella. The step sisters use self mutilation to fit into the gold slipper (not glass). At the end of the story they are blinded. I believe the translation credit for these stories belongs to Margaret Hunt.
